Short Course on Energy and Climate

Project Lead: Kerry Emanuel

Project Description: This project will be a pilot program that brings congressional staff to MIT for a two-day seminar on energy and environment issues.  This first seminar will focus on conveying both the risks imposed by climate change and the opportunities related to the global transition toward carbon-free energy sources. At the end of the program, participants will return to Washington better equipped to help their members formulate sensible proposals to promote market-based policies to accelerate the transition to carbon-free energy sources.  The ultimate goal of the project is to change the playing field from one of tired and unproductive debates about whether climate change is real to one in which society is fully engaged in search for solutions.

IPL Support: Reviewing and providing feedback on course content, fundraising, and logistical support.
