Faulty Lead: Areg Danagoulian
Project Description: Professor Danagoulian’s research involves developing new technologies to enhance nuclear security, including cargo scanning and nuclear warhead verification. This technology has potential uses for all countries attempting to prevent the smuggling of special nuclear materials (SNM) and reduce the number of nuclear weapons globally. At a time of strained relations between the United States and Russia, where formal collaboration between government scientists has been restricted, academia is one of the few places where collaboration on these pressing issues can occur. The IPL is assisting Professor Danagoulian in creating dialogue around nuclear security issues with Russian scientists.
IPL Support: Arranging and attending meetings, writing up summaries of meetings, assisting in developing an outreach strategy, discussing with potential funders, helping to develop next steps.
