Principal Investigator: Lydia Bourouiba
Professor Bourouiba’s research includes the development of a new model for respiratory disease transmission based on modern understanding of the underlying fluid mechanics involved. This work will have implications for how to best prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases. The IPL is assisting Professor Bourouiba to develop specific policy proposals based on this research and will work to disseminate those recommendations to the appropriate audiences.
Impact: The PI’s work was cited by a National Academy of Science study on recent trends in mechanics.
IPL Support: The IPL participated in many of the meetings with experts to help refine the PIs outreach strategy. The IPL has also extensively assisted with preparing her public policy talk and will work to edit the memo produced by the graduate student.
