Faculy Lead: John Lienhard
Project Description: Professor Lienhard is the director of the MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel World Water and Food Security Lab (J-WAFS). J-WAFS recently conducted a two-day workshop the current state of knowledge of climate change impacts on agriculture and food security, and the agriculture sector’s contributions to climate change. This assessment identified many areas of uncertainty that require additional research to address. A planned follow-on study will focus on developing and initiating a research agenda around knowledge and data needed to better understand—and therefore make better decisions around—the climate/agriculture/water nexus. This project seeks to communicate the outcomes of the expert workshop to policy makers, and to get their input to the follow-on study with respect to the policy questions that would be best informed by further research.
Policy Lab Support: Reviewing initial report, helping frame the narrative of the report for policymakers, drafting and reviewing policy documents, and identifying potential stakeholders
